Four Lyric Pieces by Edvard
Grieg
Grieg wrote ten opus numbers
of these mood-sketches for solo piano, often incorporating folk tunes from
his native Norway. In 2004 Anthony arranged four Lyric Pieces to form a suite
for the Royal College of Music Junior Department Clarinet Ensemble, which
he conducts.
I Arietta (Opus 12, No. 1)
II Norwegian (Opus 12, No. 6)
III At the Cradle (Opus 68, No. 5)
IV March of the Dwarfs (Opus 54, No. 3)
Anthony has arranged the suite for three B flat clarinets, alto clarinet or fourth B flat, two bass clarinets and contrabass or a third bass clarinet.
