Anthony Bailey’s compositions range from solo pieces and chamber music to larger orchestral works. These have been played in major venues throughout the UK, Europe and America, and several of his works have been heard on national radio. He has also received numerous commissions.
His first opera The Black Monk (based on the Chekhov short story) was premiered to public acclaim at the Bloomsbury Theatre in 2003. The following year, Anthony’s Chamber Symphony was selected by spnm to join the organisation's Composer Shortlist, and his choral work "i can still make you out..." was premiered by Milton Keynes Chorale in 2006 as part of their Adopt-a-Composer scheme.
Since graduating from the Royal College of Music, Anthony has been in demand as both a performer and teacher. He currently plays with the Chinook Clarinet Quartet and teaches clarinet at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, London's City Lit and Watford Girl's Grammar School. In August 2006 he was made Director of the Jonas Foundation Music School in London.
