"Anthony Bailey's natural gifts and promise as a composer, so clearly evident in his teens, are now crystallised in his most ambitious work to date. Prolific in his output during the last decade or so, Anthony has acquired a great deal of practical experience and a sureness of touch that betoken a fast-maturing creative talent."
Meirion Bowen, friend and biographer of Sir Michael Tippett (October 2003)

Anthony's compositions range from solo and chamber works to larger orchestral pieces. His first opera The Black Monk, based on the Chekhov short story, was premiered in 2003 at the Bloomsbury Theatre, London.

The following year his Chamber Symphony was selected by spnm to join the organisation's composer shortlist. This led to a joint commission from spnm, the PRS Foundation and Making Music under the "Adopt-a-Composer" scheme. Over a period of 9 months, Anthony wrote a new collaborative work for amateur choir Milton Keynes Chorale, which was premiered in June 2006.

Anthony has recently finished a book of music for clarinet, entitled Bailey and Bach. With 14 original pieces that draw on Anthony's teaching experience, it gives both students and professionals an opportunity to try a contemporary style of writing without creating music that is too difficult to play.
